We live in Northern Virginia and were looking to buy property in a ski resort that was close enough for weekend trips but also offered a well run mountain, good skiing and a ski in/ski out location. We found all of that at Expedition Station in the Village at Snowshoe. My wife and I both grew up skiing and wanted to introduce our 3 children to skiing as well. Our kids all learned to ski at The Snowshoe Ski school and are now becoming very good skiers. I'm not sure how much longer we'll be able to keep up with them. We love coming to Snowshoe as a family and love all of the amenities that are available in Snowshoe Village. After a day of skiing we usually relax at the Split Rock Pool. If we are too tired to cook our own dinner there are plenty of options in the village for the whole family. We were also pleasantly surprised to see how much there is to do in Snowshoe in the off season. It is truly a beautiful place and it is close enough that we can turn any 2 or 3 day break we get into a family adventure.

We live in Virginia Beach Virginia and have been visiting Snowshoe for over 10 years. After the first couple of years of visiting, it occurred to us that Snowshoe property was on it’s way up! Intrawest had purchased Snowshoe and the commitment to put $100 Million into the resort was an exciting proposition. We decided that this was an excellent opportunity to have an investment that we could enjoy and use as our children’s college fund. Over the next couple of years we purchased 3 properties, one for each child, with our last purchase at Rimfire Lodge. I am happy to say that our plan and vision has worked out perfectly. We have been able to watch the resort grow and flourish.

We love coming to Snowshoe as a family and love all that Snowshoe Village has to offer. After a day of snowboarding, we always relax in the Rimfire outdoor Hot Tubs before dinner. The dining selections and diversity have come along way from our first visit in 1996. In the evening after dinner we usually visit Split Rock Pool, only a 30 second walk from Rimfire Lodge. Snowshoe in the off-season has grown to be an exciting adventure with all of the special events and weekend excitement. As soon as we leave Virginia Beach, you can feel the pressures of the week melt away as you head to a beautiful resort with breathtaking views and clean fresh mountain air. Snowshoe has truly earned its place as the best Resort in the Southeast.
